Frequently
asked questions
When
a member is signed up for 1 night/week membership, Can he
attend any of the many club nights?
No.. If a member is signed up for one day he is
eligible to attend that particular night free. When he
attends any other club sessions he/she will have to pay the
visitor fee of $10. If a member is needing to be able to
attend 2 or 3 or 1 of the 2 or 3 sessions then he would be
required to take up a membership for 2sessions/week or 3
sessions / week accordingly. Then his/her names will be
added to those club sessions for him/her to attend free.
How
do we monitor which member is eligible to play in which club
night?
All membership details and eligible club sessions are
controlled by a computerized data base and the eligible
names of a club session will only be available for sign in
at any session. If a members name does not appear in a
club session he/she can only play as a visitor.
Can
a member transfer his membership to a different club night?
If there is a valid and genuine reason, a member may apply
to transfer to a different club night. This must be done
prior to attending that particular club night and the name
transferred to the new club night.
How
many games each member get to play during a club session and
how often a member gets to rest during a club night?
Generally
every club member is expected to play at least every other
game unless unexpectedly high number of players turn up to a
particular club session. Depending on the number of players
attending regularly the number of courts will be booked in
advance. The club will take every precaution to avoid any
player sitting out two games in a row. Total number of
members to each session will be limited based on average
attendance and available number of courts.
How
do you ensure that everyone get to play equal number of
games and get to play with similar level of players?
The computer system designed will ensure that all players
will have equal opportunities on the court and games are
scheduled accordingly to allocate similar level players
playing mostly together. Generally all players will get to
play more games with similar level players and less games
with players above or below their level.
How
does the grading or ranking system work so that players will
get to play with similar grade players?
All players are graded accordingly into grades such as
A1. A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2, E1, E2 and the names are
color coded.
The game scheduling system will generally follow the grading
and the ranking within the grading to make up the games. On
& off there will be couple of games organized on a
random basis where lower level players will have a chance to
play with higher level of players. Players can apply to be
upgraded in the grading/ranking system.
Allocation
of grades and ranking will be by assessment, past grading
from their previous club or tournaments, feedback from other
players, half court singles and doubles games.
How
do you handle a new member ?
A new member's grading will initially be by self assessment
and feedback from other known players. A half court
singles against a graded player will help the club to place
him/her at appropriate level for a trial period. During the
first few weeks a formal trial will be organized before
allocating a grade and ranking.
Is
the membership fee refundable if a member decides to
withdraw?
Generally the membership fee is non refundable unless a
member has some genuine reason of long term injuries or
moving out of town permanently etc. In such cases the member
will pay for the number of weeks passed at the visitor's
rate and if there is any balance left that will be
refunded. Members not attending club sessions are not
eligible for any refund.
